a little about me

Hey there. I'm Gikunju, a problem solver, a product "fixer" if we're being specific. Nairobi kid, London detour, back home and still figuring it out.

Design's the tool I reach for first, and code's right behind it, mostly because it's too fun to leave alone. I got hooked on the code side the moment I realized it wasn't just a dev thing, it was a creative medium with basically no ceiling. Now most of my time lives in the overlap between design, tech, and art. That's where the good problems are.

Currently building at NCBA Group, formerly at Play and Pitch Direct.

Outside of work I'm probably trying a new restaurant, playing football, or replaying the same playlist for the thousandth time. Sometimes I'm out with my camera, other times I'm rewatching a film just to study the cinematography. I've also started collecting watches lately, the kind that looked good fifty years ago and will still look good fifty years from now.

Still buzzing from Arsenal finally winning the league (it happened, it's real), and I'm probably mid-argument with a BMW fan about why the RS6 is the better car.

my philosophies

  • [01]always stay curious. there's always more to learn.
  • [02]good design is invisible until you see the metrics.
  • [03]leave things better than you found them.
  • [04]creativity isn't limited to a screen. exploration fuels great design.
  • [05]good food is an experience worth seeking out.
