a little about me

Hey there. I'm Gikunju. Nairobi kid, London detour, back home and still figuring it out.

I design and I build. Not as separate disciplines but as one continuous act. I got hooked on code the moment I realized it wasn't just a tool for devs, it was a creative medium with almost no ceiling. Now I live in that space where design, technology, and art collapse into each other. That's where the most interesting problems are. It's just more fun there.

Currently building at NCBA Group, formerly at Play and Pitch Direct.

Outside of work, you'll probably find me: exploring new restaurants, playing football, listening to my playlists (for the 1000th time), capturing moments through my lens, or just rewatching a film to analyze the cinematography. I've also recently picked up collecting watches. Specifically the kind that look like they were made fifty years ago and will still look good fifty years from now.

Also still buzzing from Arsenal finally winning the league (it happened, it's real) and probably in the middle of explaining to a BMW fan why the RS6 is simply the ultimate car. Some battles are always worth having.

my philosophies

  • [01]always stay curious. there's always more to learn.
  • [02]good design is invisible until you see the metrics.
  • [03]leave things better than you found them.
  • [04]creativity isn't limited to a screen. exploration fuels great design.
  • [05]good food is an experience worth seeking out.
